ENTRIES MUST BE BUILT BY STUDENTS (while parents or coaches supervise).There is no fee to participate or attend this event.Registration is required for participation in the Buildit Challenge competition (registration is free).Please do not use power tools in the construction of the project (such as bandsaws, drill presses, lathes, etc.). Glue guns are OK. (This rule is in place so that students will slow down and spend more time learning about the structural and physical properties of materials they are working with).Projects must be smaller than 5' x 5' x 5' (A five-foot cube. The project should be able to fit inside a regular sized car).Please use common sense: harmful or dangerous projects are not allowed at this family-friendly event.Projects must be completed before the start of the event.Students in the competition will have the opportunity to talk about their project with volunteer judges during the event.Winners in each category will be announced at the event.If a team wins a prize, it is up to the team to decide how to share the prize that has been awarded.Winners must be present during the ceremony to receive a prize.Tokens of participation (such as ribbons, certificates, or small medals) will be given to all projects. Some entries will receive special awards based on consensus of volunteer judges. Some entries may receive special awards based on voting for the student choice award.All projects must go home with participants at the end of the event.
